Christmas in July Scrapathon and Challenges at The Studio

Had a ball last Sunday, July 22 at the 5 hour Scrapathon featuring Christmas in July.  Each hour had a different host with a different challenge.  We were in a chat room so lots of chatting was going on along with 'trying' to scrap at the same time... hahahaha  Not all the challenges required that the pages be Christmas themed.

Must admit that I did a bit more chatting than I did scraping.  But we had a few days to finish up the scraps so all was well.  Here is a re-cap of all the fun we had.

2:30 - 3:30 - Toiny
Toiny aka PiggyScraps had us making a Christmas Card using this template if we wished

Here is mine:

Kit: Classic Christmas by Studio4 Designworks

3:30 - 4:30 - Caren Grobe aka Min

Caren Grobe aka Min gave us this darling mini to play with.  The challenge was to use 4 papers and 20 elements [words count as 1]

Had to count and recount to make sure I got the right number of elements..

4:30 - 5:30 - Aimee Harrison aka Girlboheme had us doing a speedscrap with this recipe:

STEPS FOR THE SPEEDSCRAP:

Step 1: take 4 coordinating patterned papers and place them slightly askew and slightly angled on top of one another, changing sizes as needed.

Step 2: Place a ribbon along the top edge of the top paper.

Step 3: Place a single frame, slightly to the right of center.

Step 4: Place a solid color paper strip from top to bottom behind the photo that is slightly thinner than the frame. Then place two pieces of trim, scallops or ribbon on each side behind the paper strip.

Step 5: Add a journal card, journal or tag beneath the right lower corner of the frame and angle it to the right.

Step 6: Add a Bow and 5 flowers anywhere on your layout.

Step 7: Journal in the journal card.

And just for playing, we got the following mini:

 Here is my page:

Kit used: Christmas in Gold by Feli and LouCee Designs

5:30 - 6:30 - ADB Designs
ABD Designs furnished us with this mini kit - if we wanted to use - and this recipe:
Step 1. Select 1 photo for your layout and make it (1)all Black & white or (2) all sepia or (3) spot of color with either B&W or sepia.

Step 2. Select 2 papers for your background. Layer one over the other , resize or crop the top paper so that the bottom paper shows on all four sides.

Step 3. Select 2 frames of different shapes (for example, 1 circle and 1 rectangle)
Place the frames so they are overlapping. Place slightly off center and put your photo in one of the frames.

Step 4. Create a cluster of at least 3 flowers and 1 foliage and place on or near your frames.

Step 5. Duplicate your cluster and place it near or on the frames as well.

Step 6. Add a ribbon, ric rac, string or wire.

Step 7. Add a bow & 1 more flower (or other suitable elements)

Step 8. Use a strip of paper(S) or a tag or word tile from your kit and add a title and date and any other journaling you wish

6:30 - 7:30 - SnickerDoodleDesigns
What fun we all had at the last chat session.  Some of us were loopy by this time - but still had so much fun.   Just for participating in the scrap, she gave us this mini:

 SnickerDoodle aka Karen gave us another recipe to follow;

1. Choose an odd number of photos that you would like to work with.

2. Choose at least 2 papers to layer for your background. Solid or patterned, your choice.

3. Add at least 1 paper circle to your page and 2 rectangles. More are okay; this is just the minimum.

4. Add flowers (any number); 1 ribbon or string; and some greenery

5. Add some glitter, used in any way that you like.

6. Add some stitching and any other embellishments that you would like to use to complete your layout.

The last challenge I am participating in is the Build a Gingerbread House hosted by Caren Grobe aka Min.  It is a progressive scrap with today being the next to the last day.  She has provided us with a template to use but we can design our own.  I adapted her template so I could have both the front and the side of the house show on the page.  Here is what it looks like at Step 4 - have one more step to add tomorrow.

Playing around with Challenges over at Go Digital Scrapbooking... what a fun place that is.

One of the GDS challenges -  Journaling Challenge (linked) - is to download a Created by Jill  mini-kit and make a page with some journaling on it.  We had a choice of several mini-kits but of course I was drawn to the one with purples in it.
Amethys mini-kit

Since I had been playing in several forums that were featuring a Christmas in July, I decided to use that as my theme for the page I created. The photo was taken last Christmas, but I am ready to party anytime of the year.

Tag reads: "Ready for Christmas any time of the year"

You can pick up Created by Jill mini-kits at the Go Digital Scrapbooking Store: here.
Or join in the fun with the challenges at the GDS Forum: here.

You will be seeing more the pages I created for the challenges at several forums in the next few weeks.  Hope you enjoy them.  You can join in the fun... just pop into the forums and sign-up.

Stefairy and Scrap Angie have added me to their CT group.

Have been admirer of these fabulous designers for quite some time.  Angie and I got to know each other when she was hosting some of the challenges at CoolScraps before the forum and gallery closed.  Ran across Stefairy over at Digital Design Den and fell in love with her romantic and dreamy kits.  Here are a few kits and some pages I made using them so you can see for yourself what fantastic designs these kits are.

Oriental Dream kit by Stefairy jumped right out and grabbed my attention... as I have daughters who belly-danced for several years.  I still have lots of photos of them to scrap and this kit is a dream come true.

Oriental Dream papers

This is a photo of my youngest daughter who visited us in Cario, Egypt when we lived there.  I was taking art lessons from a premier Egyptian artist, MonsourA.  He asked if she would pose for him and he presented her with the two sketches at the end of the session.

My hubby and I visited Athens, Greece for a summer vacation in the early 1990's.  I was looking for a kit use to scrap those precious memories.  When I saw Olympus by StefairyI knew I had found the right kit.

Olympus Papers

Here we are visiting the famous sites in and around Athens.  This page reminds me of how close to the heavens I felt as we climbed up the hills to vist the ruins.

Just wait, I will have more fabulous kits from these two designers in just a few weeks.  They have some fabulous kits that will be released soon.

Stepfairy shops are at:

Will have kits from Scrap Angie soon.  So keep watching this blog and see the adorable kit she will be releasing at the end of the month.

Had to pop back in to add a page I did for a challenge over at GoDigitalScrapbooking today.  This is using Sweet Acidity by Scrap Angel

Sweet acidity Papers

The challenge was to include some fruit shapes on a page.
Here is mine:
Love Summer Fruits

Just a fun, bright and vivid kit that had the right elements to show off some summer fruit along with my darling great-granddaughter.
