DigiDesignResort Progressive Challenge Final Steps

What an exciting challenge this has been.  It really makes you think about what you might want to add and have a semi-plan to follow... if the steps and additons allow.
The final steps were to add:
Element of your choice
Title, journaling and/or wordart

I chose to add another paper as I knew by step 3 that I wanted it and where to place it.
Also added the Title:  "Song of Love".

Final Layout
I was really hoping that we could add 2-3 additional elements but it was not to be for this progresive challenge. This was a fun challenge and really enjoyed seeing where it took us.  Looking forward to participating in another progressive challenge in the future.

But, I did decide to go ahead and add what I wanted to the layout...... the elements that I couldn't add to the progressive ---- a harp and sheet music.   They aren't very large but I think they finish the layout and add to the theme of the layout. Also added a second musical staff and notes.  This layout will be part of the Wedding Album I am working on...... very slowly.

I hope you have enjoyed this journey in the progressive challenge with me.  Have more layouts coming.  Another another new kit from Annka Studio is in the works.  You will want to pop back and see this delighful kit.

Love reading the comments, so please feel free to leave them here.

Another beautiful day and another step in the Progressive Challenge at DDR

The sun is shining and temperatures are climbing.  Lovely spring weather outside.

The fourth step in the Progressive Challenge at DigiDesignResort called for the following:
Any type of flower
Any type of leaf
flair, button or brad
musical item
And as always, we can add as many of these as we wish as long as they are the same item (same brad repeated as often as we wish, for example)

Those additons really helped me with the layout.  I now know what I hope we can add for the last step.  This is my layout after adding the blue flowers, green leaves under the corner of the photo and key, musical staff and notes, and a line of brads:

Key: Royal Splendor by NumbBumm

Hope you have enjoyed seeing the progress on this layout.  Come back in the next few days and see the finished layout.

Progressive Challenge at DDR continuing

Oh, this is so much fun.  Another step along the way in this Challenge. For this 3rd step we are to add: 2 photos, scatter, butterfly and fruit.  Had already selected the photos of my granddaughter's wedding in Southern California to use for this one.  She is carrying a bouquet of orange and green which fits the colors of the layout so well.

I have to give special credits to Annka Designs [StarSongStudio and KakleiDesigns combo] for the beautiful kit - Tangerine Dream - that I am using for this challenge.  It can be found at both DigiDesignResort and CoolScraps stores.

The key is from Royal Splendor kit by NumbBumm.

Don't forget to check back on Monday, March 26th to see StarSongStudio's new Kit - Blue Poppy.  Will have some layouts to show how beautiful this kit is.

Layouts without photos

Trying out a new technique of making layouts without using Photos  - just using elements/papers that are in the kit.  Started working on this one... then received word that there is a challenge for DSF premium membership at  over at DigiScrap Forum  using the Feb DSF Blog Train for the layout.  Wow... perfect timing.  So, I finished my layout last night and got it posted.

The most challenging part of the layout was figuring out how to put a tablecloth on the pedestal table before adding the teapot, roses and coo-ing birds. Really am enjoying this 'different' type of layout.

Kits used were  from the Feb DSF Blog Train.  Many thanks the creative designers who took part in the Feb Bog Train and shared their wonderful kits with us:

Key, type of flower, type of leaves, Ribbon

We may add as many of each items as we wish as long as they are same item repeated

Here is my page with those additions:

Progressive Scraps are FUN...

I joined a progressive scrap challenge over at The Studio this past week.  You begin with a few elements and paper that were provided to you then add elements/papers as directed each day.  Once they are on the page, they cannot be moved.

This was the start of my layout on day 1:
Added a background paper and 2 paper strips cut from another paper.

This was at the halfway point on day 4
And today was the final additions with photos and all
What a challenge to start with no idea of what you might be required to add and come up with a layout you are happy with at the end.  The kit used for this was the Studio's  March Mega Kit - Lucky To Have You.

Yes, I am really into doing these... Just joined another Progressive Challenge over on DigitDesignResort (DDR).  It is not too late to sign up for it if you do it by Sunday, March 18th.  This one is different in that you can chose which kit you wish to use... they give you a description of what to use:
1 Paper
2 different frames
Jar or vase

Here is my layout for day 1
I am using Tangerine Dream by AnnKa Designs
It is available at DDR and CS

Can't wait to see where this progressive challenge leads us.  Come join in the fun.
Will post more of the progress on this one as it proceeds.

Another gorgeous day here.  Opened the house up and letting the soft spring breezes blow through the house.  Been a long while since it has been warm enough to do that.

Spent the last few days working on the kit from the Cool Scraps Forum - March CU pack for a Freebie.

I love this kit from Kaklei Designs. So much fun to play with. Not quite ready to post it yet, but here is a teaser for you:

Come back soon to get it.
Almost forgot to show off my Siggy for my designs.

Beautiful Bright Eyes Designs

Tuesday, March 13, 2012

Busy day yesterday.  Spent the afternoon and evening working on a color challange at COOL SCRAPS.  Love the CU Fun Mix kit from KakleiDesigns.  Was only going to do a couple of things but ended up with lots of items.  Am putting them together in a kit.  Will be back later to post it here.

This is one of my layouts I did this week for a challenge at Digidesign Resort (DDR).

March 2012 Mixed - Digirecipe Challenge

Danica's day-dreamy expression started the song by Stephen Foster
 playing in my mind

Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me,
Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
Sounds of the rude world, heard in the day,
Lull'd by the moonlight have all pass'd away!
Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song,
List while I woo thee with soft melody;
Gone are the cares of life's busy throng,
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

The soft hues in the papers and elements were a perfect compliment to the colors in the photo

What a wonderful day this is.  The start of my new blog... Yeah!!

This will be the place where I share some of my interests - such as new sewing projects, my Red Hat chapter doings, and last but not least... my new interest in digi-scraping.  I will be showing some of the layouts I have been making, too.

Yes, I have been spending a lot of time on the computer learning the Photoshop Elements 10.  My darling hubby bought the program as a Christmas present for me.  Love the program... now that I have learned how to use it a bit.  Would have been lost without the "Missing Manual - PSE 10" by Barbara Brundage - an O Reilly publication.  It is my 'bible' to PSE10.  I learn more each time I open it up and start creating a new layout with its clusters, backgrounds, elements and... of course... the photos.  So many ways to showcase those special events.

Must say a kind word about all the friendly folks I have found on several of digi-scraping sites.  Love the challenges there as that pushes me to learn and do more.  So many fabulously talented designers out there.  And love seeing all the layouts as they spark ideas and get the creative juices flowing.

One of these days... I may even become a Creative Team member for a designer or digi-forum.  Oh, be still my heart!
